For approximately twelve years, My Friend's House Foundation (MFHF) has been on the front lines, along with local missions, churches and other community groups, providing “essential” resources for the impoverished and disenfranchised living on the streets of Los Angeles. In our minds, essential is that which is absolutely necessary; of great importance and of high priority. And that is how we have always viewed the needs of those we serve.
Prior to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which has paralyzed countries in more ways than one could ever imagine, My Friend’s House Foundation served approximately 500 individuals experiencing homelessness per week. Now that many of the missions, churches, non-profits, and other community groups have significantly reduced or even suspended their services, MFHF continues to provide meals, other food items, water, clothing, shoes, grooming & hygiene supplies, and prayer, to so many more.
As resources from this fundraising campaign come in, we will distribute what we call “COVID Care Kits” (masks, gloves, antibacterial wipes, travel-sized hand sanitizers, soap, a CDC COVID-19 fact and safety information sheet, inspirational material, etc.) along with having multiple hand washing stations during our service to this population which is undoubtedly among the most vulnerable at this time. Unquestionably, it is also our desire to serve healthier food items, which also include more fresh fruits, vegetables, juices, Vitamin C packs, etc., to help support a stronger immune system.
MFHF, while adhering to health and safety precautions mandated by our Governor for ourselves and others, will continue our food and resource services to the homeless and impoverished population in Skid Row, Downtown Los Angeles.
We can't do it alone! We have ceased normal operation of our social enterprise (the Community Boutique) and community center and program operations, which have been the platforms for raising funds for sustainability. We still have to meet our overhead and also purchase supplies to serve the community weekly.
It's during these times that those in need, need us most! We can't make as great of an impact without you! Please help us help others! We wish to thank you in advance for donating and supporting our efforts to continue fulfilling this mission.
Sincerely, Tiffany Rose | Founder
